In the Final Battle, Yuna and her guardians had fared off against Sin. But they had chosen to take the different path that meant certain death for some, if not all, of the gang. This resulted in Yuna and her friends dying from the incredulous fight. This brings on the question; what if?

A new era has begun, one where the Temple of Yevon has to rival against another group known as the Summoners' Hall, which has taken over the temples scattered throughout Spira. In order for a summoner to have received an aeon, a quiz that the Hall has set must be answered, and passed. The questions get harder as the journey gets closer to the end, but there are many summoners already in existence. Unfortunately, most of the summoners are not attempting to take on Sin and the massive task of saving the world. To make matters worse, a new darkness has invaded Spira, much worse than Sin itself. People still fight on, but the evitable keeps anyone from ever succeeding.

Will you become a summoner and take on the task of fighting for Spira's safety and existence? Would you be the summoner's guardian that's vowed to protect it with your life? Or would you side with the evil of Spira and do unthinkable deeds against Spira's goodwill and faith? Whatever you would be, you will be caught up amidst all the chaos and destruction taking place in the beautiful world of Spira...
